Hi. I'd like to interface with my Digilent Atlys board using a breadboard. What's the cheapest and easiest option for me to do so? I need at least 10 IO pins.
The documentation is a bit confusing to me, and I can't figure out which headers and sockets can be used as "raw" IO. I have male-male jumper cables at home, so ideally I could just use those, but I could also purchase the male-female ones, or a special connector, if it doesn't cost more than a few dollars.
Can anyone help me with that?

What sort of interface do you mean? Connect to PC?

No, I need to connect the board to a breadboard, where I'll shift the logic levels to 5v, so that I can connect them to different DIP chips, or an Arduino Uno. If you know of a good way of converting the logic levels in both ways, or of a good inexpensive converter, that'd be very helpful too. The thing should be capable of running at about 1-2 MHz.

To summarize, I'd like to send some data from an Arduino Uno to the Atlys board and vice-versa, but I'll probably have to put some serial shift registers between them. What's the best way to connect the Atlys board to a breadboard and convert the logic levels between 3.3 and 5 V?

Do you think it's easier to connect your boards with some conventional interface, say UART or I2C?

I don't know. Is there some specialized hardware on Atlys that does the logic level conversion to 5 V if I use those protocols? Otherwise I still have to do the conversion somehow, and figure out which IO pins I can use.

Maybe I should start by asking: can the pins that I've marked on the picture be accessed directly? The individual pins don't seem to be marked, are they only meant for programming the chip? If not, how do I know what they're called when writing Verilog code?
