Arthur MacEwan - Debt and Disorder

MacEwan argues in this short book that world debt is associated with U.S. imperialism and the built-in structural features of international capitalism, and examines the case of Latin America as illustrative of his thesis. The author believes the problems associated with debt will not be resolved because policy decisions have not altered the rules of the game, only the strategy for playing. MacEwen offers a clear argument on a complex subject and insights into contradictory Third World policies, but does not convincingly establish the connection between state imperialism and debt, nor offer an alternative, viable economic model.

Political change is inconceivable without populism. Populism is not simply a way of talking about politics that pits the people against the elite. It is a political logic that organises, mobilises and empowers the people. Without populism, politics can legislate and transform, but the change it brings about is likely to be absorbed into the existing system, as we have learned from the writings of the late Argentinian political theorist, Ernesto Laclau, and his collaborator, Belgian political theorist Chantal Mouffe.

Culture as Politics: Selected Writings of Christopher Caudwell

The foremost collection of essays from one of Britain's most important 20th century Marxist writers

Considered by many to be the most innovative British Marxist writer of the twentieth century, Christopher Caudwell was killed in the Spanish Civil War at the age of 29. Although already a published writer of aeronautic texts and crime fiction, he was practically unknown to the public until reviews appeared of Illusion and Reality: A Study of the Sources of Poetry, which was published just after his death. A strikingly original study of poetry’s role, it explained in clear language how the organizing of emotion in society plays a part in social change and development.

В итоговом протоколе дистанционного электронного голосования (ДЭГ) указаны результаты, противоположные суммарным итогам на участковых
избирательных комиссиях (на участках Михаил Лобанов получил 40,5%, Евгений Попов получил 31%, в ДЭГ Лобанов — 23,9%, Попов — 41,2%). Количество проголосовавших на участках и электронно практически совпадает (114 тысяч против 112 тысяч), так что с учетом ДЭГ большинство голосов оказывается у Попова. В связи с многочисленными процедурными нарушениями в проведении ДЭГ мы подали жалобу в Центральную избирательную комиссию РФ и иск в Пресненский районный суд с требованием отменить решение УИК № 5002 об итогах голосования по выборам депутатов Государственной Думы по Кунцевскому одномандатному избирательному округу № 197.

Peter Karibe Mendy - Amílcar Cabral: A Nationalist and Pan-Africanist Revolutionary

Amílcar Cabral was an agronomist who led an armed struggle that ended Portuguese colonialism in Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde. The uprising contributed significantly to the collapse of a fascist regime in Lisbon and the dismantlement of Portugal’s empire in Africa. Assassinated by a close associate with the deep complicity of the Portuguese colonial authorities, Cabral not only led one of Africa’s most successful liberation movements, but was the voice and face of the anticolonial wars against Portugal.

A brilliant military strategist and astute diplomat, Cabral was an original thinker who wrote innovative and inspirational essays that still resonate today.
