From Oliver Beddows (CTO at Lisk)
Hello everyone,
I am back again with another development update for the Lisk project.
In previous updates, I have mainly focused on providing updates for our user-interface related products in support of the eventual Lisk Core v3 release. With this update onwards, I will now provide an update on all products in active development.
But first a few considerations:
- Our focus remains on releasing Lisk Core v3 ASAP. First to the testnet, then to the mainnet. However, the Lisk Platform team (SDK/Core) now moves onto Lisk SDK v6.0.0 already
- The competitor analysis and development planning processes mentioned in this update are used to formally prepare and design each implementation, e.g. Lisk SDK v6.0.0
Below is a summary of the development status of each product:
Lisk SDK
- Lisk SDK v5.1.0 was released into production 🚀
- We have started competitor analysis for Lisk SDK v6.0.0 with the following objectives:
- Compare libp2p with lisk-p2p
- Compare state store implementation and framework hooks
- Compare block forging modularization
- We have started development planning for Lisk SDK v6.0.0 with the following objectives:
- Add BLS signatures
- Add sparse merkle trees
Lisk Core
- Lisk Core v3.0.0-rc.0 now depends on Lisk Desktop v2.0.0 reaching the (rc.0) release candidate status
Lisk Service
- Lisk Service v0.3.0 was released into production 🚀
- The development of v0.4.0 (implementing a new exchange rate service) is nearly complete:
- With 8 issues closed in the past sprint
- With 7 open issues remaining as of now
- Once development of v0.4.0 is complete, the QA process will begin (with alpha.0)
- Lisk Service v0.4.0-beta.0 is expected by the end of this sprint
- Lisk Service v0.4.0 is not required by Lisk Core v3
Lisk Desktop
- Lisk Desktop v2.0.0-beta.3 was released into public testing 🚀
- The development of v2.0.0-beta.4 continues:
- With 6 issues closed since resumption
- With 6 issues open remaining as of now
- Once development of v2.0.0-beta.4 is complete, the QA process will begin (with alpha.8)
- Lisk Desktop v2.0.0-beta.4 is expected by the end of this sprint
- Lisk Desktop v2.0.0-rc.0 will follow shortly after v2.0.0-beta.4
That concludes my update for today. The next update will be on June 9th.
A special thank you to the development team for making the 3 product releases (SDK/Service/Desktop) happen for Lisk.js 2021! This was amazing to see!
Cheers
