For anyone who stumbles upon this in the future:
https://daveparrish.net/posts/2018-06-22-How-to-download-private-YouTube-videos-with-youtube-dl.htmlThe guide is 100% accurate as of July 2020.
Get a cookie extension (use the one recommended in the guide)
Create a cookie file called tempcookies.txt
Navigate to
www.youtube.com (while logged in)
Use the cookie extension and export the cookies (copy to clipboard)
Paste the info into tempcookies.txt
Do this two more times for
www.google.com and
www.myaccount.google.comIn your terminal, run the curl command as stated in the guide. I named my output file mycookies.txt and placed it in my home directory.
Currently there is no built in way to auto run the cookies file, so you will need to call the file path every time.
My own terminal command is: youtube-dl --cookies=~/mycookies.txt [youtube-url]
