Dear colleague,
You have received an e-mail from the ESRF User office on 12 May regarding the allocation of beamtime for the II/2020 scheduling period, and you might have had the occasion to follow the ESRF webinar on 2 June. At that time ESRF management has decided to give preference to experiments that can be conducted by the concerned ESRF beamline staff, or external staff with collaboration contracts with the ESRF, and through remote communication between users and the local contact. In the meantime, some of the restrictions have been lifted, and if the situation in relation to Covid-19 is further improving, one external user per experiment will be allowed at the ESRF from 27 October 2020 onward.
Following an analysis by the ID17 team we contact you to discuss whether your experiment MD-1236 could be conducted within these boundary conditions. To this end, we kindly ask you to get back to us as soon as possible.
We count on your understanding and support for these changes to our standard procedures that have to be implemented to optimise the return to user operation in the forthcoming 2020-II period under the present, challenging circumstances.
With our best wishes,
Michael Krisch, Alberto Bravin, and Herwig Requardt
