It may be worth turning off the auto gain and trying adjusting the rf gain both up and down. Turning it up makes signals bigger but also brings up the intermod, and noise. There will be a sweet spot where it performs best in your environment.

Yes. What Suigintou is describing is the same I experienced the first time I used the RTL-SDR dongle. The RF gain is disabled by default and the only things you can receive are FM stations. A 20 dB RF gain works well for me in most situations

Mine was like that too but I find, if I turn it up too much, I just end up with a screen full of intermod products and noise.

with different antenna and thick 75-ohm cable that was ok. but not with small stock 1/4

It's possible the stock antenna or, more likely, the cable is defective.

Can you unscrew the antenna from the mount and check the cable with a test meter?
