Military is mandatory if you want to go right after highschool, you get basic minimal salary and you do spend most of you time in the military base (there are exceptions). You do have plenty of opportunities to spend time at home on the weekend with country being small.. I think you get some funds for school for that. Your other choice is to go into academic reserve and serve 3 years after graduation + 3 extra  on contract with decent salary as an officer. You start as a lieutenant and most likely leave the military as a captain...  You are only  obligated to serve the second 3 years if the military if they find you a role in your profession (they do get to decide which faculties and degrees work for them year by year). Back in my day you had to pay for your own school, but things have changed since than
