Captain education here: I was curious about the truth of this cover pre-shop so went to look it up, as you can see it’s actually called Chrome and was the first gay sci-fi released (1978). The author was an ex actor who starred in B movies like Robot Monster, but had a car accident that took one of his eyes, so turned to writing for a living instead

It’s a prized bit of literature because of its groundbreaking gay premise and the love of androids as analogies for homosexual oppression, BUT, and it’s a big butt, apparently halfway through it turns into a sci-fi fascist diatribe where this particular dystopia was brought about by woman, gasp, trying to be equal to men and choosing to make their own decisions, which leads to ‘the lowering of standards and improper uncontrolled breeding, creating a "Garbage World" of degenerates’, which basically means white girls and ‘colored folk’ intermarry, leading to the end of civilised society as we know it
