Однако те, кто знаком с реальным положением ученых, а не опирается на статистические выкладки, выражают серьезные сомнения относительно корректности данных, приводимых ВШЭ.

Her words allude to QAnon, a conspiracy theory whose followers believe a paedophilic cabal of senior Democrats, Hollywood stars and billionaires run the world and harvest a life-giving chemical from the blood of abused children. The children are always ‘America’s children’ or ‘Britain’s children’, the purest, most innocent expression of the mystical Volk and a blatant reference to the ‘Christian children’ of the Blood Libel. Like past anti-Semitic conspiracies, QAnon and its associated strands transform sensations of impotence in the face of a catastrophic system into resentment of a fantasy elite, who have impaired reality to such a degree that only a strongman can now save us. QAnon promises, according to one adherent, a “reverse rapture”, ushered in, no less, by corporate messiah Donald Trump. Prophesied as the instigator of the ‘storm’ a day of reckoning when members of the cabal will be rounded up and brought to trial Trump’s central role reveals QAnon’s overtly fascistic aspirations. In the figure of the former president, its followers have found a willing hero. As President, Trump repeatedly made references to the ‘Deep state’ and even claimed QAnon’s followers “believe in good government”. His departure from office has only seen the movement grow and adapt, gaining further ground among the highest ranks of the Republican Party.

Philosophy in the so-called ‘analytic’ tradition has a strange relationship with politics. Normally seen as originating with Frege, Moore, Russell and Wittgenstein in the early 20th century, analytic philosophy was originally concerned with using formal logic to clarify and resolve fundamental metaphysical questions. Politics was largely ignored, according to the Oxford analyst Anthony Quinton, before the late 1960s. Political philosophy, in fact, was routinely pronounced ‘dead’ at the hands of the analysts so dead that the tepid output of John Rawls (whose A Theory of Justice was published in 1971) could appear as a revival.

At the same time, analytic philosophers were not uninterested in politics. Bertrand Russell is an especially well-known case, but other figures such as A. J. Ayer and Stuart Hampshire both supporters of the Labour Party (and in Ayer’s case, later the Social Democratic Party) and critics of the Vietnam War were also politically involved. The reluctance to engage with politics in their professional capacities might seem thus to reflect not lack of political interest, but a view of philosophy as a largely separate sphere. Russell, for example, wrote that his ‘technical activities must be forgotten’ in order for his popular political writings to be properly understood, while Hampshire argued that although analytic philosophers ‘might happen to have political interests, […] their philosophical arguments were largely neutral politically.

Григорий Юдин - Россия как плебисцитарная демократия

В российской политической системе ключевую роль играют электоральные процедуры (выборы, голосования, опросы). Это создает трудность для современной политической науки при попытке классифицировать Россию: как столь активное обращение к голосу народа совмещается с очевидной деполитизацией и персоналистской властью? Описание российского политического режима как промежуточного, неполноценного на шкале демократии не позволяет объяснить ни его электоральный энтузиазм, ни его устойчивость. В данной статье для описания российской системы используется теория плебисцитарной демократии. Комбинация монархической власти и всеобщего избирательного права возникает во Франции периода Второй империи, а впоследствии получает глубокую теоретическую разработку в Веймарской Германии. Плебисцитарная демократия позволяет обеспечить прямую демократическую легитимность сильного лидера и при этом предельно сократить политическую роль масс в условиях быстрого и резкого расширения избирательного права. В работе излагаются основные принципы и внутренние противоречия плебисцитарных режимов. Также показано, что плебисцитаризм сохранил сильное влияние на современную политическую науку через господствующее минималистское определение демократии, введенное Й. Шумпетером под воздействием плебисцитарных идей М. Вебера и К. Шмитта. Это определение способствует электорализации современной демократии и ее дрейфу в сторону плебисцитаризма. Россия XXI века рассматривается как пример радикальной реализации плебисцитарной демократии, обозначаются основные тенденции развития плебисцитарной системы.

«Кто не скачет, тот москаль» — какую роль в украинском кризисе 2014 года сыграли подобные формулы? Обратившись к риторике киевского Евромайдана, Ольга Байша, доцент факультета коммуникаций, медиа и дизайна ВШЭ, продемонстрировала, что «ватники», «колорады», «титушки» и прочие по-прежнему живучие мемы «Революции достоинства» оказали огромное влияние на события, которые, по всей видимости, еще долго будут определять траекторию развития Украины. Хотя дискурсивного анализа для осмысления современных революций определенно недостаточно, в небольшой книге Байши намечен ряд сюжетов, значимых для дальнейшего историко-социологического изучения Евромайдана.

Goran Therborn - Red Lines

On Monday 21 June the Swedish government fell. It was a strange coalition, voted down by another strange coalition. The administration was led by the Social Democrats (SAP), with the right-wing former trade union leader, Stefan Löfven, as Prime Minister. It included the smallest parliamentary party, the Environment Party, and relied on a confidence-and-supply arrangement with Sweden’s two most neoliberal groupings: the Centre Party and the Liberals. Its parliamentary majority was also contingent upon the votes of the Left Party, which last week withdrew its support, joining with the three conservative parties – the Moderates, the Sweden Democrats and the Christian Democrats – to pass a motion of no confidence. The Centre and the Liberals abstained.

Sweden has a parliamentary system based on proportional representation in multi-member constituencies, with the threshold for representation set at 4% of the national vote. Eight parties currently sit in parliament. The reason for the bizarre political games of recent weeks was a deadlock in which neither the left-of-centre – composed of the Social Democrats, the Left and the Environment Party – nor the traditional bourgeois bloc of Moderates, Centre, Christian Democrats and Liberals, could command a majority.

Numerous co-ops have also emerged to refashion the gig economy on more equitable terms. The Drivers Cooperative covered by the New York Times and applauded by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a New York City-based ridesharing app owned and operated by its drivers; the rides are designed to be about 5 percent less expensive than Uber and Lyft and drivers keep a larger percentage of each fare. The same dynamic goes for Up & Go, a cleaning service owned by its workers, who earn higher wages compared to gig workers at competitors like TaskRabbit.

В «Судье и историке» Гинзбург действует в рамках того, что сам он называет «уликовой парадигмой», и анализирует доводы обвинения, отделяя в них доказанные факты от предположений и откровенных спекуляций. Прежде всего у него вызывает вопросы достоверность слов самого Марино, который, как выяснилось в ходе судебного заседания, в частном порядке неоднократно беседовал в карабинерами, прежде чем совершить «чистосердечное признание». Кроме того, Марино путался в деталях, «вспоминал» и «забывал» события и несколько раз менял показания. Но это лишь полбеды: «Вместо того чтобы искать объективное подтверждение признания, оставленного подсудимым, следствие воспользовалось его показаниями как пробирным камнем, с помощью которого оно могло бы проанализировать (и при случае отвергнуть) рассказы очевидцев».
