Congratulations on completing the first task. Your accuracy was 85%, which is not ideal but still gets you an opportunity to try the second one. We noticed that it took you 29 minutes to complete the first task. Good job!
As before, we recommend using a computer with a keyboard (and not a mobile device).
Task 2: Categories
Sometimes the decisions a moderator has to take are not simply black and white. The second task offers a little more nuance.
You will be given 300 articles to sort into one of the 7 categories. The sorting criteria are listed below, read them carefully before you start.
This time, you can press backspace to undo your previous decision if you made a mistake (you can go back one step). We've also added a green progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
Aim to complete the task in under 1 hour. If your score is high enough, this bot will send you further instructions within a few days. Please complete the task by 23:59 UTC on Monday, February 10.
Criteria for Task 2
Society (includes Politics, Elections, Legislation, Incidents, Crime)
Laws passed, debates in government, crimes, disasters of any scope, etc.
Economy (includes Markets, Finance, Business)
Economy, companies, markets, shares, crises, unemployment rates.
Technology (includes Gadgets, Auto, Apps, Internet services)
Not games, though. Games are Entertainment.
Sports (includes sports of any kind, including E-Sports)
Entertainment (includes Movies, Music, Games, Books, Arts, Celebrities, Animals).
Science (includes Health, Biology, Physics, Genetics)
Other (things that don’t fit elsewhere)
Notes:
- If you think something sits right between categories, try to think what makes the article unique and newsworthy as opposed to other articles on a similar topic. If newborn pandas are first introduced to the public, it's Entertainment; if they have been cloned in a lab, it's Science; if this makes the global bamboo market grow rapidly, it's Economy; and so on.
- Basic weather forecasts are Other. They can still be Society if the forecast is catastrophic; or Science if the focus is on the underlying atmospheric effects; etc.
- If a crime committed by a star is news mostly because of the fact it's a star ("Kim Kardashian stole a lollypop") – that's Entertainment.
