If this goes on, Ethereum will die as DeFi base platform. We need higher block gas limit yesterday.
Even if this means having to put clients on monster machines - so be it.
And FWIW turbo-geth should safely sustain blocks with much higher gas limit than what we have today on consumer-grade hardware.
