There is no short answer, you have to read official guides at least to get general ember-data understanding
Yeah I am following the official guide only, for ember 2.18 (that's what on my team is working on).
In that tutorial they are using mirage to mock a server which is fetching the data into ember-data by default, but that's not the case with a real json server
