'Thousands of extra people needed at care institutions in the Northern Netherlands'
Healthcare institutions in the Northern Netherlands need thousands of extra people in the short term. That says Zorgplein Noord, the umbrella organization of 270 care and welfare institutions in Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe, to RTV Noord . "On average, healthcare institutions now need between seven and fifteen people," explains Matthijs van Walsum of Zorgplein Noord. "If I speak for 270 institutions, you can calculate it."
The pressure on care homes in particular is high: because there is a ban on visitors, there should also be no more caregivers who can take work off the staff's hands.
"We are mainly looking for people with experience in healthcare, but people who have no experience are also very welcome. We can place them somewhere through the Red Cross, for example," says Van Walsum.
